Saturday Evening Music...

Conservation Expo

Read about my Saturday here: http://linfordgardenclub.blogspot.com/

Van got to go to the birthday party of a dear friend at the House of Pounce...they sure pounced!

Hope your Saturday was as fulfilling as ours :)

Akward...and irritating...

Venting: Last night, as we left swimming lessons with our sweet friends we walked right by a teacher from Van's worst school experience ever.  I would have normally ducked, hid, ran the other way but we needed to use the same door so this was impossible.  She didn't even acknowledge me...I wanted to say: Look! Look at him...he's happy, healthy, thriving...doing everything you doubted.  When we got in the car Van said, "I saw her...she smiled at me...she likes me now."  Ugh...rip out a mom's heart. No child should ever feel like they are not cared about or liked at school, even if they offer you challenges!

OK...I'm better!

Yes....

Skating

Van's Valentines

We planned on making these lovelies but what I thought was a heart-shaped-muffin tin was actually, really plastic-the meltable kind of ice-cube tray. Duh...sometimes I don't know how I made it this far ;)

I still wanted to have a candy-free, sweet, and Van-liked Valentine for his buddies and cousins.  Luckily I came across these! Aren't they cute :) I would recommend that if you have a boy, that isn't into writing and sitting still...do 2-3 cards a night.  He loved writing his name...a couple times.

Saturday Morning Music...

Welcome Waldorf Worman

Van: This is Waldorf. we got him from the shelter. I paid my quarters. He likes lettuce and carrots. I promise I will take good care of him.

So, Van has asked about Ringo (our last guinea pig) and if he will come back down from the sky when it rains ( sad mommy).  I overheard him tell his dad that he misses Ringo and then I overheard Daddy say that he missed him too (although it might have been just for the sake of comforting agreement). I took this as our opportunity to find a new friend :)

The usual dinner conversation...

Us: Van, how was your day at school?
Van: I'm not sayin' nuffin!  What did my teacher say?

Hmmm...pleading the 5th already?

Truth

Crafty...Chaos

Made for a sweet teacher at school whose baby shower is tomorrow. I hope she loves it and that it warms her baby girl's noggin :)  Van even helped...helped so much that I had to start over. "Wook mama...I'm knittin!"  Oh golly, yes...or unknitting.

One of Laramie's Best...and One of Our Favorites

UW Geological Museum....I am excited to see our little man learn more and more and his interests grow and mature.  When we got to the museum, he whispered a question to the host: How can Allosaurus and T-Rex not be the same?  Meaning=how do you tell the difference between the two dinosaurs...both being carnivores with super sharp teeth that look a lot alike.  One way is size but the other is the # of toes each has. We learned that Allosaurus has 3 and T-Rex has 4.  Van first thought their difference was because one of them has bumps above his eyes and the other doesn't.  I called them horns at first, mistakenly.  He quickly corrected me and said, "they are not horns! They are two frills mama" (duh mom).

Skipping all the way, Paleozoic plants, triceratops site on the map, feeling fossils (I think this is where the bewemnites wived)!

A dino for Anna: Dracorex hogwartsia

At the Library

Going to the library with Van is pretty interesting...we check out mostly non-fiction (snakes, dinosaurs, solar system, and guinea pig books).  He runs and gets scolded by the librarian, I tell her that he can't walk with a sweet, sarcastic smile.  He does not whisper.  As long as he is loving books and feels at home at the library, a quick and boisterous visit doesn't bother me...yet.

maybe not a bedtime book...for my sake

Delicious!

I admire other people's creativity! That's why I like Pinterest so much...I found this recipe and just had to try it...easy and delicious!

Berry Biodiversity and Conservation Center @ UW

Linford Garden Club Blog about the Berry Biodiversity and Conservation Center
(this is the blog that I keep for our school garden)

Brett's office is pretty close to where construction of this new building on-campus has been. At first I was pretty sad that they tore down one of the older buildings...log cabin looking...to replace it with this. But now, look at all it has to offer! We might take a trip to campus today to check it out on our way to our favorite place, the Geological Museum.
