A different type of productivity ;)

With work to do on my thesis and always busy at school/work...this was much better and did more good for the soul...my smiling boys and my first catch with a fly rod and a fly B tied!  Van had a blast playing with sticks, rocks, pretending to fish, and splashing around.  We ended the day on a bummer though...he tripped down the hill and fell into some cactus...his left hand and knee...poor guy...he toughed it out but says, "I HATE CACTUS!"

Oh and by the way...it was the biggest catch of the day :)

Skin Watte...

...wif hazonuts...

Yes Van, I would love a skim latte with just a splash of hazelnut syrup...love playing coffee shop with the little dude...didn't realize I said that phrase often enough for him to have my order memorized...

Critical Pedagogy...

Do you really want to know?

So...I have approval to start my research and have my methodologies and lit review in for editing...now for the theoretical framework...the lens that the research is based upon...critical pedagogy. It's a doozie but surely powerful and will help change attitudes in the world of teaching...examining our own prejudices and how they affect our teaching and contribute to student achievement/failure...

That's my goal for the day...5ish pages on critical pedagogy...but maybe we will go fishing instead...there's always tomorrow to get philosophical...

In case you need a laugh...

Sometimes I miss HBO....

Earth Day Inspired Craftiness

Step 1: Find an old t-shirt that you are proud to carry around...

Step 2: Cut strips along the bottom...front and back...

Step 3: Tie strips together...double knotted...front strips tie to back strips

Step 4: Cut sleeves off...

Step 5:  Cut around neckline to create handles...

Step 6: Stuff with toys, groceries, books...and enjoy your re-purposed t-shirt bag :)

Things I've done to procrastinate today...

As I get closer and closer to graduating, I also get closer and closer to having to hand in and defend my thesis.  Sometimes it feels overwhelming but it's actually funny because having this work to do has actually encouraged me to do other things...so here's my list of things I've done today instead of get hit the lit. review section hard...

1. Cleaned Van's room...which was actually a huge mess...he told me not to pick up the piles of books because it was actually a beaver dam and that if I ruined their dam, they would starve (he's 2)

2. Hot-glue gunned two dinosaur tails out of felt

3. Took the long, long way to and from the library

4. Facebook...biggest time waster of the day...bad Facebook

5. Write this blog entry

6. Eat home-made hotwings and enjoy a Longboard Lager

7. Searched Netflix

8.  Thought about cleaning up dog poo...would rather do the paper

9.  Looked for my missing bracelet

10.  Wrestled Van

11. Read to Van

12. Cuddled hubby

13.  Watched the snow fall

OK...I could go on and on but as I look at this list, I realize that everything else I did was much needed and that balance is key in a good life...this paper, although I still MUST DO IT, turned out secondary in importance for the good of my heart <3

Gets me moving...

Good morning....

On this windy, chilly Wyoming morning I am thinking of California...
